The peripheral is where a standard build quietly stops being standard.

Nobody signs off a docking station, so three generations of dock end up in the same office and the meeting starts eight minutes late while somebody finds a cable that works. The same applies to headsets on a call platform, and to monitors bought in three sizes because two purchase orders went out a year apart.
