Smart Metering and AMI

Everything else follows from it. Losses cannot be located, feeders cannot be balanced and prepaid cannot be offered if a share of the estate went dark last month. Read success is a communication design problem, and on an AMI rollout it is settled feeder by feeder before a single meter is ordered.
Get SECCOM to test real communication coverage on one feeder before the rollout is sized, at no cost. RF mesh, cellular or a mix: the answer differs between a dense urban feeder and a rural one, and getting it wrong is expensive to reverse.
